Towong Turf Club

The historic Towong Turf Club has been racing horses in the magnificent Upper Murray since 1871. The course, one of the most picturesque in the State, hosts two meetings a year in December and March and attracts thousands of return race-goers.

The course is 10km east of Corryong and an easy 1½-hour drive from Albury-Wodonga. Steeped in history, it's a nostalgic visit to the racing of yesteryear with Victoria's oldest grandstand, century-old elm trees and sweeping views to mountains the Man from Snowy River once called home.

Locals consider the Costello Rural/Quadrant Securities Towong Cup in March to be one of the leading social events on the Upper Murray calendar. It's closely followed by the Jack Riley's Cracks Handicap in December which is a great day out for all the family.
